Why study International Business and Economics? Corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations are looking for employees who understand the international world and possess cultural sensitivity. As firms worldwide become more dependent upon international trade - many multinationals do business in more than 100 countries - the need for graduates with business and economic skills continues to increase.
A major in International Business and Economics offers a broad base of traditional business courses that provide you the unique perspective on doing business globally. Unlike other business degrees, this program draws more heavily from other areas of study, such as political science, sociology, geography, or foreign language.
After successful completion of the program, students should be able to:
- Possess a broad understanding of the international trade environment
- Understand the global economy
- Possess understanding and sensitivity in regard to other cultures
- Operate effectively in diverse environments
- Communicate and present information effectively
- Develop a truly global approach in identifying, analyzing and solving problems
- Employ analytical skills
- Devote considerable time to research
- Forecast and assess future economic and business events
- Evaluate the prospects for profitable investments in countries around the globe
