Reading Teacher Certficate
Reading and writing mean more than knowing how to put letters together to form words, sentences and paragraphs. It means comprehending, constructing and critically synthesizing principles and concepts. For teachers, pupil mastery of reading and writing is the difference between students who barely get by or drop out, and those who excel and proceed to higher levels of academic achievement. This program is designed for practicing teachers who wish to increase their knowledge of reading and writing strategies and materials used in PK-12 classrooms. Teachers desiring to participate in this program must hold a valid teaching license with a minimum of two years of full time teaching experience by the completion of this program. THIS IS NOT A LICENSURE PROGRAM. Students must complete all coursework with a minimum GPA of 3.25. Students will then receive a Certificate of Completion from the Fort Hays State University Teacher Education Department.
