Certificate in Emergency Services Leadership

At Fort Hays State University’s Department of Leadership we recognize the growing need to enhance your technical skills with knowledge gained from academic programs.  Many employers in the public safety fields are requiring higher education for promotion or incentive pay.  The fields of Fire Service, Emergency Medical Services, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, and 911 Communications are all embracing formal education.
The Emergency Services Leadership Certificate is a 3 course undergraduate program that can be earned separately or included with other college level courses to attain your Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.  The courses will introduce you to leadership theory and it’s applications in your field.  In addition, you will learn how intervention strategies and organizational change tactics can assist you in guiding your department to meet the ever changing global world in which everyone must operate.
Training prepares us to perform the tasks.  Education provides us with the tools to be leaders.  The Emergency Services Leadership program is designed to prepare you for working with community representatives, politicians, peers, personnel and other stakeholders.
