Fort Hays State University Virtual College

Resources.

You do have access to these resources, BUT you WILL have to reconfigure your browser following the Quick Link "Off Campus Access" from the library's web page. This is necessary in order to comply with license agreements with the database vendors. Follow the link in the Off campus access page to the CTC (Computing and Telecommunications Center) Help Desk, choose your browser and follow the instructions. One key thing to remember is that when you have finished going through the instructions, you MUST close your browser and then reopen it to make sure that the changes have taken effect.

ALSO, your TigerTracks “email” account MUST be activated. There is a link to activate it on the Scatcat email page. The activation process could take up to an hour depending on when you submit the request in their "update cycle".

The Username and password that you will be prompted for, when you are ready to begin your research via our online databases is your TigerTracks username and TigerTracks (email) password).

You can get to the databases via the Quick Link “Research Resources” on the library’s web page. From there, choose “databases”, then “alphabetical by title”. Once there, you can choose the database you want. At that time, a window box will pop up and that is where you will enter your TigerTracks Username and password.

Another Key thing to remember is that before you go to use the databases, you will need to “disable the firewall” on your computer. Proxy servers and firewalls do not like each other. You will also need to disable pop up blockers in case there are full text for your articles in .pdf formats.

If you have any problems, there is a number and email address on the instructions page for the CTC Help Desk (785-628-5276). If you have problems once you are in the database, then you can email the the reference desk at refserv@fhsu.edu.
