Cost

Cost for the day's entire event is $10 per band memeber, and includes the following:

Battle of the Bands Competition (either as participant or observer)
Barrage Workshop
Barrage Concert Ticket
Entry to the Yamaha Experiment Room
Afternoon refreshments

Location

The Alternative Strings Battle of Bands competition and Barrage Workshop/Concert take place at Fort Hays State University's Memorial Union and Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall.

The University is located in Hays, Kansas, right off I-70 at exit 157. Campus maps and directions to the University are availabe here.

Important Dates

October 25, 2008	Band application, demo and entry fees must be received by FHSU Western Kansas String Academy. (Application materials available online at www.fhsu.edu/wksa/battle). Competition finalists will be selected and notified by October 30, 2008.
November 7, 2008	Bands must confirm their participation in competition, turn in equipment specifications (if needed), song lyrics (if applicable) and Barrage workshop forms/fess.
November 15, 2008	Music for Barrage workshop/concert mailed out to registered band members. Forms/fees due from school sending string players to the day's educational events and activities. Note: Space for the educational Barrage Workshop/Concert is limited to 100 students.
November 18, 2008	Music for Barrage workshop/concert mailed out to registered school string students.
January 12, 2009	Advance orders of Battle of the Bands T-shirts due (optional).
January 21, 2009	Alternative Strings Battle of the Bands Competition at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Battle of the Band Competition will take place in the FHSU Grand Ballroom, in Memorial Union, in front of a fellow student audience (estimated attendance, 250). The winner of the Battle of the Bands will perform as the opening act for Barrage, on stage at Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center as part of the university's Encore Series (estimated audience, 1000).
