Cody Custer is the first graduate of WKSA's Advanced Orchestra to teach for
the program, which he has done since 2006. After receiving a scholarship
from WKSA, Cody attended a ten-day Suzuki training at the Ottawa Suzuki
Institute which gave him many ideas to incorporate into his WKSA classes.
Pre-orchestra is one of his favorite classes to teach because the little
kids seem to have a lot more fun with classes.
Over the years, he has participated in numerous small ensembles for regional
and state music festivals, chamber ensembles, pit orchestras, and
orchestras. In June of 2008, Cody and the ShBoAbCo quartet received a
scholarship to study with the Marian Anderson String Quartet in Bryan,
Texas.
Additionally, Cody organizes an annual concert called "For the Love," so
musicians can perform the music they love without any formalities. Cody
believes music has taught him many valuable skills, like time management,
consistency, dedication, and working well with others, but most importantly,
he thinks that musicians need to remember the passion for music that started
them playing.
