Alternative Strings Workshop

Held in June, 2006 the alternative strings camp allowed strings students to explore non-classical styles of music. From the brochure:

Rosin up your bows and dive into the world of alternative strings! Expand your horizons with fiddling, jazz, mariachi and other non-classical styles of music for strings. This two-week day camp is open to violin, viola, cello and string bass students of all ages throughout the western Kansas region. You'll learn how to play by ear and how to improvise. You'll get to experiment with electric instruments. And you have a chance to perform your music at special community performances. Most of all, you'll have fun playing exciting, toe-tapping, finger-snapping music with fellow musicians.
