SELLECK RESEARCHERS ASSOCIATION

COMING HOME: 350 Years of Selleck Family History from Stamford and Beyond
2006 Biennial Meeting of the Selleck Researchers Association in Norwalk, CT, October 6-7

Nearly three and a half centuries after Jonathan and John Selleck left Boston in the 1660's to settle in the fledgling colony of Stamford, the Selleck Researchers Association will gather in Norwalk, CT, to celebrate the lives of the Sellecks as they were intertwined with the planting of British colonies, their emancipation in 1776, and the westward expansion of the United States. The two days of presentations, tours and discussion groups is $35 for members, $50 for non-members. For more information contact Paulette Clark Kaufmann at pck2@msn.com.

Independent Selleck family historians, genealogists and hobbyists have been engaged in research for many years and have eagerly shared their discoveries, answering many questions. In October 1994, the Selleck Researchers Association (SRA) was formally organized. The stated purpose of the association was to research Selleck family history around the world and to share that knowledge with others.

General meetings of the SRA are held every two years. The 2002 SRA biennial meeting was held October 4 and 5, 2002, at the New Canaan Historical Society, New Canaan, CT, because of the numerous books and records of value to the serious Selleck researcher. In addition a great list of speakers was scheduled as well as those in attendance being able to tour the important local Selleck sites. The 2004 SRA meeting is scheduled for October 1 & 2 in Lansing, MI, and the 2006 General meeting will be held in Norwalk, CT.

Membership in the SRA is currently $10 per year. Members receive a subscription to The Selleck Sentinel newsletter, a list of names and addresses of the approximately 100 members of the organization and the ability to seek research assistance from other members. Anyone wishing to become a member of the SRA should contact Irene Church, Membership Secretary, 9642 Holland, Taylor, MI, 48180-3068.
