PRAXIS II TEST INFORMATION - KANSAS LICENSURE

How You Can Qualify for a Kansas Educator License?

To qualify for an educator license, you must complete an approved teacher education program and satisfy all other licensure requirements including Kansas testing requirements for content and pedagogy (see below).

Who Must Take the Tests?

For an initial conditional teaching license candidates must complete one PRAXIS II: Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) test and content test(s) PRAXIS II: Subject Assessments/Specialty Area test(s) in each of the appropriate subject area(s). Persons adding an endorsement must take the content assessment tests as well for each endorsement. The Content Tests listed on the back of this page are the only ones accepted for Kansas licensure.  These tests are also listed on the ETS website under State Requirements – Kansas.

How Can I Prepare for the Tests?

For test descriptions, sample questions with answers, and test-taking strategies, see the Tests at a Glance.  Review and download Tests at a Glance information instantly from the Praxis Series website at www.ets.org/praxis.

Where Can You Get Registration Information?

Registration procedures, fees, and forms as well as test dates and location, are on the Educational Testing Services Praxis Series website.  Handouts with test dates and registration deadlines are available at Wichita State University in the Office of Education Support Services, 107 Corbin, or the Counseling and Testing Center, 320 Grace Wilkie Hall.  You may review and download a Registration Bulletin and register online at www.ets.org/praxis.

When and Where You Can Take the Tests?

Test Dates (see Registration Handout for specific test dates, registration deadlines and tests offered)

Tests are offered on one Saturday in September, November, January, March, April and June each year.  It takes approximately 6 weeks to receive the test scores.

Test codes, test sessions, and test length are listed in the following charts.

Wichita State University is a test center for all test dates.  The WSU test center number is 04034.  Be sure to have your scores sent to WSU; enter code 6884 on the registration form.

Content tests are scheduled in Sessions 1 and/or 2 in the morning.  Principles of Learning and Teaching tests are scheduled in Session 3 in the afternoon. Please enter the Candidate ID number that you were given with any previous PRAXIS scores so that ETS will keep all of your scores together.
