FHSU Badges:
Digital badges at FHSU are a unique way to share evidence of skills, knowledge, or abilities. Unlike traditional transcripts, badges are designed for display in email signatures, digital resumes, or social media. Choose a single badge to add to your email signature highlighting a specific aspect important to you, or include them all on your LinkedIn profile, showing potential employers you have demonstrated the skill in a much more persuasive approach. Once issued to you the choice of which badge and where to share is yours. The badge icon will always link to information verifying that you received the badge from FHSU, and the process you completed to receive the badge.
Individuals interested in earning a badge through FHSU, will need to register/participate in the appropriate learning activity. Badges may be associated with completing learning activities contained in an academic class, a campus event, or web-based learning. We are currently developing badges for students, faculty/staff, and alumni/friends. A badge application will be completed either during the activity or within a specified period following the completion of the activity. Badge opportunities are listed within this webspace, and many will be promoted with the learning opportunity.
As we introduce approved badges we will develop information for students and the public regarding the badges we offer. The sample badge on the right links to the credential page, which is where anyone seeing the badge can view information about the badge.
Badges are awarded for acquiring and demonstrating competency in a specific area of knowledge or skill. For badges awarded by FHSU, the process of acquiring requires at least four hours of specific educational experiences as outlined in the badge proposal. The badge will also require an assessment of each individual who seeks to obtain the badge. While the educational experiences could be a portion of a class, there are many additional opportunities from workshops, clubs, recitals, exhibits, lectures, or meetings. If you can articulate the specific content/skill, the learning activities, and how we will assess outcomes we can consider it for a badge.
We will also have comprehensive badges.
