CHBS FACULTY ADVISORY COUNCIL (FAC)

The College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Faculty Advisory Council is made up of faculty members from each of the six departments which make up the college. Each department chair appoints one faculty member from their department to serve a three year term on the council. Objectives of the council are to provide updates of the activities within each department, deliver input and feedback regarding college level projects and initiatives, offer input regarding the college level strategic planning and assessment processes, implement the college level award process, and coordinate applications for speakers to present the Young Alumni Speaker Series.

March 7 Request for applications/nominations

April 7 Application/nomination materials submission deadline

April 22 FAC selection committee submits finalist recommendation to the dean

April 29 Dean notifies finalists and or recipients

May 11 Annual Award Ceremony-Finalists are recognized and student award recipient is selected.

Student Awards

Each year the CHBS Faculty Advisory Council seeks nominations from each department within the college to recognize undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate exceptional performance in the areas of leadership, scholarship, and service. Departments are encouraged to submit one student per degree program that will be recognized as that department's "Outstanding Undergraduate Student" and "Outstanding Graduate Student". The Faculty Advisory Council will then select the recipients of the CHBS Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award and CHBS Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the departmental nominations.

CHBS Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award

Qualifications
The recipient of this award must be a full time undergraduate student who has selected a major of study within the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. All finalists will be recognized during the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Annual Recognition Ceremony. $250 is awarded to the winner's respective department in the student's name. When possible, the chair and student will meet and determine how to utilize the funds. The department will coordinate fund allocation through the dean's office and follow state and university purchasing guidelines. Funds will be available and must be utilized in full during the fiscal year following the award ceremony.

Faculty or chair will complete the nomination form and SUBMIT to the FAC Chair by the nomination deadline.

CHBS Outstanding Graduate Student Award

Qualifications
The recipient of this award must be a full-time graduate student who has selected a major of study within the College Of Health and Behavioral Sciences. All finalist are recognized during the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Annual Recognition Ceremony. $250 is awarded to the winner's respective department in the student's name. When possible, the department chair and student will meet to determine how to utilize the funds. Faculty Awards

A $500 stipend in the form of OOE funds will be awarded to each award recipient. Recipients will coordinate fund allocation through the dean's office and follow state and university purchasing guidelines. Funds will be available and must be utilized in full during the fiscal year following the award ceremony.

Qualifications
Nominees must have held an appointment with the rank of instructor or above for at least 2 years and be a current faculty member in the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. Candidates may be nominated by faculty or their department chair. Self nominations will not be accepted.

Nomination Process
Nominator submits a letter describing the candidate's scholarly activity and why the individual is deserving of the college award. Candidates may be asked to provide and updated vita. SUBMIT Letters of nomination to the FAC chair by the nomination deadline.

CHBS Faculty Service Award

The College of Health and Behavioral Sciences recognizes one outstanding faculty member for their distinguished performance in the area of Service. The award recipient will be recognized during the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Annual Recognition Ceremony. A $500 stipend in the form of OOE funds will be awarded to the recipient. Recipients will coordinate fund allocation through the dean's office and follow state and university purchasing guidelines. Funds must be utilized in full during the fiscal year following the award ceremony.

CHBS Faculty Teaching Grant Award

The College of Health and Behavioral Sciences awards one faculty member a $500 stipend in the form of OOE funds to be used for instructional development.

Qualifications
Applicants must be full-time teaching faculty in the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.

College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Young Alumni Speaker Series

The CHBS Young Alumni Speaker Series will feature recent graduates from the college who have demonstrated qualities of excellence in their chosen field.

Qualifications
Nominee's must have earned a bachelor and/or graduate degree from any department within the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences within the previous 15 years. The individual must have made a significant personal or professional impact within his/her profession or community.
