Not currently scheduled
Overview
Crash course (noun): a brief, intensive course of instruction, as to prepare one quickly for a test. While there will be NO test in this workshop, we will explore where marketing has been, where it is currently, and what to expect in the future in terms of strategy and tactics. We will challenge some of the myths about marketing that you probably encounter every day, like 'my business targets everyone.' You will learn the fundamentals of marketing that are NOT consistent with these myths and how to implement them in your business to be more effective and efficient with your marketing efforts, including STP (segmentation, targeting, positioning), strategic and tactical marketing decisions, database marketing, and marketing as a science and an art. We will also discuss what is new in marketing today and what you should be prepared for in the future. The workshop will include activities to practice what you learn!
Topics covered:
- The (mis)perceptions of marketing
- The importance of target marketing
- Marketing strategy versus tactics
- Why lowering prices is probably a bad idea
- The basics of database marketing
- The science versus the art of marketing (and why both are essential)
- What's new in marketing and what to look for in the future
