Public Workshop: ABC's of Grant Writing

Overview
This half-day workshop is designed as an introduction for beginners and as a refresher for grant writers looking to polish existing skills and receive updates about funding trends. This workshop is designed for people who work with schools, non-profits, and economic development organizations. Participants will learn strategies to find federal and non-federal funding sources, the basics of proposal development, and tips for increasing the competitiveness of your proposal.

- Understand requests for proposals, and interpret guidelines
- Learn logic models and integrate each component of the grant into the final product

Facilitator
Angela Pool-Funai
Angela Pool-Funai currently serves as the Assistant Provost for Academic Programs and Dean of the Graduate School and Office of Scholarship & Sponsored Projects at Fort Hays State University (FHSU). Her academic appointment is in the Department of Sociology.
Dr. P-F has spent the bulk of her career in higher education, including several years in the grants & research administration arena before transitioning to the faculty. She came to FHSU from Southern Utah University – where she was recognized as the 2020 Distinguished Faculty for Inclusion & Diversity – and worked previously at Baylor University and Dallas College.
She is the author of Ethics in Fiscal Administration: An Introduction and co-author of The Reflective Administrator: A Leader-Centered Focus. Dr. P-F holds degrees from Valdosta State University, Baylor University and Stephen F. Austin State University. In her spare time, she enjoys tinkering on cars and canoeing local reservoirs.
