State of Kansas Department of Administration - 40 Year Service Award

Dr. Zakrzewski is one of two FHSU faculty to receive this award from the State of Kansas for dedicated service to the state..

Kathryn Prinslow, Geography Graduate Student
Mid-American GIS Consortium - Best Student Project

Kathryn Prinslow, Geosciences graduate student won first prize at the Mid-American GIS Consortium for her thesis-based poster  entitled, "Comparing Atmospheric Plume Models using Lagrangian and Gaussian Algorithms to Simulate a Bioterrorism Attack." Kathryn's project poster was selected for the top student project prize, Best Student Project for Innovative Use of GIS.  The Mid-American GIS Consortium, also called MAGIC, is an annual collaborative symposium event for GIS experts and students.  

Upon returning to campus and being asked what she liked best about the consortium and winning in the student competition, Kate stated, "The conference was not only good for me for future career networking, but it also was a great opportunity to show off some of my thesis work."

Nick Van Swol, FHSU KAMS student
American Meterological Society Honorable Mention

KAMS student, Nick Van Swol was one of three students who received honorable mention awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, held in San Jose, CA.  The American Meteorological Society awards were given to the best exhibits in the areas of atmospheric and related sciences.  Tyler Clark also represented KAMS at the fair.

Lyle Herrman and Matt Bickle represented well at FHSU at the 2010 Society of Explorational Geologists Convention in Denver.
