During Office Hours:
If you feel you need to see a counselor immediately, we encourage you to either call or come directly to the Kelly Center and ask to speak with a counselor. We will make sure you get to meet with a counselor the same day.
The Kelly Center has an "emergency only" on-call cell phone for on-campus emergencies occurring after business hours. If you call the Kelly Center after business hours, you will be provided with the emergency cell phone number. A counselor will always have this phone except during the following university breaks: summer break, winter break, fall break and spring break. Please see the university academic calendar for specific dates.
You can also call the High Plains Mental Health Center if you would feel more comfortable doing so. Their phone is also answered after working hours, and they will assess your situation and may suggest an appointment with one of their counselors.

It is often very challenging to deal with the emotions that arise from local and national tragedies. Our counselors are available to help you manage your feelings and reactions to unexpected losses, challenges and tragedies. We can come to a specific class, department or organization to provide group support when necessary. Remember, there is no charge for counseling at the Kelly Center.
