Describe your research

The research project explored the effects of hidden curriculum on an elementary school as a result of moving outdoors for the 2020-21 school year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

What was it like sharing your research?

I consider my experience at the Kansas Undergraduate Research Days to be a learning experience as I got to read and respond to participants' comments and questions.

What are your future career goals?

My future career goal is to teach full time as a kindergarten or 3rd grade teacher. I plan to incorporate outdoor activities as much as possible to give students opportunities to learn the hidden curriculum that comes with learning in an outdoor setting and that is not explicitly taught in the curriculum.

Why should other students get involved in research?

Getting involved in research or scholarly activities helps students get out of their comfort zones, improve their oral and written communication, and discover new information or ideas that they ordinarily would not have if they had not participated in the research.
