Forwarding Your Student E-Mail

This information applies only to student email. Faculty and Staff should NOT forward their official FHSU e-mail. See pg. 12 of the Faculty Handbook for more information.

Because FHSU is unable to provide support for other e-mail systems, we cannot assist with problems encountered while using other e-mail providers.

Although forwarding service is available, we recommend accessing your student email account directly in order to receive official University mail and messages. If you still wish to forward new messages to another address you may do so using the instructions below.

Set up Forwarding:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click the gear icon Gear Icon in the upper right, then select Settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. From the first drop-down menu in the "Forwarding" section, select 'Add new email address.
  5. Enter the email address to which you'd like your messages forwarded.
  6. For your security, we'll send a verification to that email address.
  7. Open your forwarding email account, and find the confirmation message from the Gmail team.
  8. Click the verification link in that email.
  9. Back in your Gmail account, click the "Verify" button next to your preferred e-mail address.
  10. Next, select the 'Forward a copy of incoming mail to...' option and select your forwarding address from the drop-down menu.
  11. Select the action you'd like your messages to take from the drop-down menu. You can choose to keep Gmail's copy of the message in your inbox, or you can send it automatically to All Mail or Trash.
  12. Click Save Changes.

Remove Forwarding:

  1. Click the gear icon Gear Icon in the upper right, then select Settings.
  2. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab, or if you use Google Apps, you might have a Forwarding tab instead.
  3. In the "Forwarding" section, select the Disable forwarding radio button.
  4. Click the first drop-down menu in the "Forwarding" section and check for any forwards created by filtering.
