Annual Back to School Picnic

4:00-6:30 p.m. - Fort Hays State University Quad (East side of the Memorial Union)

Once again, it is time to plan for the Fort Hays State University Back to School Picnic. This year, we have many exciting events planned, with music, booths from area merchants, and novelty activities.

Student involvement in community and campus activities has always been the main theme of the picnic and this year is no exception. The picnic is your first opportunity to effectively gain awareness for your organization and the services it provides. Therefore, we would like to invite local businesses and student organizations to participate.

FHSU Organizations

Fort Hays State University student organizations, university departments, and other campus entities should submit table requests through TigerLink by CLICKING HERE. There is an alert on the TigerLink homepage for your reference. There is no cost for campus entities to participate in this event.

Community Business/Organizations

Businesses and individuals may participate by submitting a registration form and associated payment.  Requests can be submitted through TIgerLink by  CLICKING HERE.

General Picnic Guidelines: 

  1. University Departments and Recognized Student Organizations will be provided one (1) table at no charge.
  2. Non-profit organizations will be provided one (1) table at no charge.
  3. For-profit businesses will be charged $50.00 to participate and will be provided one(1) table.
  4. Groups needing additional tables will be charged $50.00 per table.
  5. Groups needing power will be charged $10.00 for that service.
  6. No liquor stores, tobacco establishments, or pornographic enterprises will be permitted to register.
  7. Groups are not permitted to promote credit cards on-campus.
  8. No sales allowed – only giveaways, merchandise, coupons, information, etc.
  9. Any edible items must be in original sealed packaging.
  10. All student organization and department giveaways must comply with university identity standards. Click HERE for additional branding guidelines.
  11.  Changes to table registrations will not be accepted past 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. All changes should be coordinated with the Center for Student Involvement at csi@fhsu.edu or at 785-628-4664.
  12. Participants may begin setting up at 3:30 p.m. The picnic is scheduled from 4:00-6:30 p.m.  Please work your table the duration of the event.
  13. Any items left behind after the picnic concludes will be thrown away.  
  14. The Center for Student Involvement reserves the right to deny requests which include activities that may be harmful or disruptive to participants. Examples include, but are not limited to:  water activities, live animals, inflatables, open flames, weapons, etc.

    The deadline to register is 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
