The Department of History

Historians explore people and societies and try to see how and why they developed in the ways they have. Historians fearlessly drop their assumptions to interpret the causes and effects surrounding the people and cultures they study. And because they can demonstrate extraordinary critical thinking skills and passionate inquiry, history majors are often extremely attractive to future employers and find careers in a variety of fields.

Nationally Ranked History Program

The Department of History’s Secondary Education History and Government program was ranked 3rd in the nation by the National Council on Teacher Quality.
