What is Leadership Studies?

The Department of Leadership Studies’ programs prepare you to become effective organizational members of the 21st century workplace. Rather than preparing you for one particular career, this flexible interdisciplinary program provides you with the knowledge and skills necessary for a broad range of organizational and supervisory positions.

Our department believes that leadership can be learned. Not only will you learn theory and critical workforce skills in the classroom, but you will also have the opportunity to apply those theories and skills through hands-on experiences. Class activities, internships, study abroad, service-learning projects, and other research and creative activities are just a few of the innovative methods through which you will learn in the Department of Leadership Studies. The skills learned through these experiences are applicable in any type of situation. Strong academic courses taught by dynamic faculty will give you an opportunity to put thought into action in both your career and community.

Whether you are a first time freshman, a transfer student, or wish to enhance your current professional portfolio, the Department of Leadership Studies offers many unique academic opportunities for you both on campus and on-line.
