It’s just not a football game at FHSU without the roaring thunder and spirit of the Tiger Marching Band! Made up of approximately 150 students from nearly every academic discipline, the Marching Band has a long tradition of excellence and pride in service to the University and is one of the largest and most popular student groups on campus. Fans love our traditional pre-game show, our entertaining and innovative halftime shows, and our antics in the stands as we cheer the Tiger Football team onto victory! All Marching Band members earn a service stipend starting at $300 for first-year members. Stipend amounts go up each year with larger increases for juniors and seniors and bonuses awarded to student leaders and officers. Non-music major instrumentalists in good academic standing are also automatically eligible for the Charles and Carrie Miller Marching Band Scholarship, which provides an additional $150-250. All students, regardless of major, are also encouraged to audition for scholarships available through the Department of Music and Theatre. The FHSU Color Guard and Tiger Debs perform with the Tiger Marching Band at all home football games. Stipends for these auxiliary groups start at $350 with increases each year. The Tiger Debs also join the FHSU Pep Band at home and post-season basketball games. If you are interested in joining the Fort Hays State University Marching Band, Color Guard, or Tiger Debs, please contact Dr. Lane Weaver or fill out the 2014 Membership form below.
