The Journal of Applied and Educational Research is peer-reviewed journal focused on publishing original research pertaining to education at all levels. Educational research includes studies focused on testing the effectiveness of pedagogical interventions, learning methods, and assessment in the context of both general and special education. The journal also highlights studies focused on cognitive development, language development, and socio-emotional development of all students.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
1. Language
The manuscript must be written in English.
2. FormattingThe manuscript must adhere to APA 6th Edition formatting and style. Please only use Times New Roman font at 12 point. Use double-spacing throughout the manuscript. Use 1" margins on all sides.
3. Length of PaperThe manuscript shall not exceed 25 pages of text, excluding the reference pages, tables, figures, and any appendices. Manuscripts exceeding 25 pages will promptly be returned to the authors without review.
4. Title PageInclude a title page as a separate document to ensure a blind review. The title page should include the: a) the clear and descriptive title of the manuscript, b) the author(s) name(s), c) the affiliations of the author(s), d) the contact information (email address and phone number) for the corresponding author.
5. Abstract
The body of the manuscript should begin with an abstract. The abstract should be 150-200 words. Do not include abbreviations that are not defined. In addition, the abstract should not include references, and generally do not include in-text citations. Please list 4-6 keywords at the end of the abstract.
6. Body of ManuscriptThe manuscript should not exceed 9,000 words or 25 pages of text. Headings must be used to separate the sections of the manuscript. The writing tone should convey a scholarly and objective tone. Please see APA style, 6th edition, section 3.06 on smoothness of written expression. Use past tense when referring to the methods, results, and discussion sections. Present tense is permitted when discussion implications, significance, and suggestions for future research. Please ensure that the body of the paper does not contain any indication of authorship. All pages should be number consecutively, beginning at the abstract.
7. Reference PagesThe references should be listed alphabetically and comply with APA Style, 6th Edition.
8. Table, Figures, and AppendicesTables, figures, and appendices (if applicable) should appear (in that order) after the last reference page, and not directly in the body of the paper. Tables, figures, and appendices should produced as per APA Style, 7th Edition. The use of color is acceptable.
9. Submission Requirements- The manuscript is the original work of the author(s) and is free from plagiarism.
- The manuscript has not been published previously and is not concurrently being considered in another publication.
- The manuscript is submitted as a Microsoft Word document or PDF.
Submission Instructions
1. Manuscripts should be submitted via email to Dr. Jairam at d_jairam2@fhsu.edu
2. Write the following in the subject line of the email: Submission to JAER
3. Submissions to the journal should include three separate files, including: a) a cover letter, b) a title page, and c) the manuscript (i.e., abstract, body of the paper, tables, figures, and appendices).
Review Process
Within 2 weeks of submission, the author(s) will receive an initial response indicating that the manuscript was received. The manuscript is screened to ensure that it meets all of the criteria above. Manuscripts that successfully pass the screening will sent to forward for the peer review. Those manuscripts that do not meet the above criteria will be returned to the author(s), who are invited to revise and resubmit once the criteria are met. The peer-review will be conducted by a minimum of 2 member of the peer-review team. Please allow up to 2-3 months for this process. After the peer reviews are completed, they are sent to the editor for final review and assessment. Depending on the outcome of the review, manuscripts might be sent back to author(s) for revisions or the manuscript might be accepted. Once accepted the manuscript will promptly be made available online and appear in the next issue of the journal.
