2010-2011 FHSU RODEO
The Fort Hays State University Rodeo Team had a busy fall. Along with practices, the club held a fundraiser at Montana Mike's and practiced their waiting abilities as they served food to the ticket buyers. The club also is helping with the timed event rodeos held in Lyons once a month. They will also have one in January, February, and March. The fall semester included four college rodeos, we have two members in the the Central Plains Region Standing. Jordan Sammons is currently ranked 13th in the Bull Riding and Cody Pratt, who is also the Central Plains Regional Director, is placed 4th in the Steer Wrestling. For individual rodeos, Cody Pratt placed 3rd at the Pratt Community College Rodeo and 4th at the Southeastern Oklahoma University Rodeo in the Steer Wrestling. Jordan Sammons placed 5th at the Northeastern Oklahoma University Rodeo in the Bull Riding. The team is ready to start the spring semester at K-State's rodeo in February.
The spring semester for the club and team looks to be a busy one. With many different fund-raising activities to plan and organize to community service. The club will have a full schedule to attend too. Along with all the club activities, the spring semester has six college rodeos that we can compete in. We are excited to hold our 45th annual FHSU rodeo in April. Planning and ad selling is already in progress. Another exciting feature for the spring, is the first rodeo reunion to be held in co-junction with the annual rodeo. Alumni is invited to come back and have a great time with old friends, meet the current team and club, and just sit back and enjoy the one thing that we all have in common, "RODEO".
