Biography:
Dr. Noble was tenured faculty at Roosevelt University in Chicago before landing her dream job and moving with Addi, the wonder pup (the tiny dog with the huge personality), to the dusty, rugged plains of northwest Kansas. She was named the Voss Distinguished Professor of Leadership Programs at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in 2019 and serves as the Director of Civic Learning and Engagement. She is a Professor in Leadership Programs in the School of Criminal Justice, Leadership, and Sociology in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She chairs the Experiential Learning Committee and co-chairs Goal 5 of the university's strategic plan (Community and Global Engagement). She is also affiliated faculty at Creighton University (Omaha, NE) in its Interdisciplinary Leadership Ed.D. program and is a past President of the Association of Leadership Educators (2016-17). She serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Leadership Education (JOLE) and is a National Advisory Committee member of the Carnegie Foundation's Leadership for Public Purpose elective classification.
Her Master's thesis, a mixed methodological study, examined human resource managers' perceptions of the impact of domestic violence on the workplace. Her doctoral dissertation (a qualitative study) addressed Black leadership as informed by Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. Her current research interests include social justice, social responsibility, and civic learning and democratic engagement.
She enjoys spending precious time with her kiddos, grandbabies, and friends when she's not working. When she's not with them, you can find her on her yoga mat, running, walking her pup, gardening, and just being silly and laughing (a lot!). Her best advice? Life is short – embrace every moment. Practice gratitude. Have fun. Be kind. Spread joy.
