Student Organizations in Allied Health

While earning a degree is your ultimate goal, college is about a lot more than attending classes and doing homework. College is a time to get involved in activities that help you develop leadership skills, learn more about your chosen career and make a difference in your community. As a medical diagnostic imaging major, get involved in extracurricular organizations related to your field of study, such as:

Association of Radiologic Technology Students (ARTS)

The Association of Radiologic Technology Students, or ARTS, helps you develop and strengthen professional contact within the health care field. One of the group's key activities is organizing and participating in Radiologic Technologist Week. Contact Jennifer Wagner or Denise Orth for information.

Society of Student Sonographers (SSS)

The SSS helps to develop and strengthen student contact with professionals within the health care field with emphasis in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. As a member, participate in a wide range of professional and educational activities, and help plan social events for fellow students. For more information contact club sponsors, Brenda Hoopingarner or Christa Weigel.

Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists (KSRT)

Radiologic Technology students are encouraged to join the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists and have an active voice in this state-wide professional organization. Student members participate at the KSRT annual convention as well as the student seminar. There is also opportunity to hold a position as a student representative or student mentor, which gives you valuable leadership experience.

Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (SDMS)

Sonography students are encouraged to join the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and participate and receive benefits from this national professional organization. Student members attend and participate in the national convention. Participation in this national organization gives students a chance to network with fellow sonographers and students sonographers and have access to publications and continuing education resources relevant to the field.

Beyond activities found in Cunningham Hall, home to the Department of Allied Health, majors become part of many campus-wide organizations, such as Tigers in Service, intramurals, or the Student Government Association.
