The department offers in-demand Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degrees with majors in accounting, finance, and international business and economics that are loaded with value:

  • Unique hands-on opportunities that will get you one step ahead in the job market
  • Personal advising and mentoring by faculty and staff who are interested in your personal success

  • Online degrees to meet the needs of place-bound students or students that need more flexibility with their class scheduling.

In today's economic climate, it is more important than ever to have the knowledge and skills to effectively-and ethically-manage money, whether you wish to work with individuals or for a company. Finance and accounting continue to be high-demand careers in both the public and private sectors, and a degree in economics makes you a highly versatile and sought-after employee.

The department opened the doors for the Robbins Banking Institute at FHSU last year. The institute was made possible from a major gift by W.R. and Yvonne Robbins of Farmers Bank and Trust. Alan Deines is serving as its first director. The Robbins Banking Institute is the only banking institute in Kansas and it will help prepare students for jobs in the banking industry where there is great need for well-prepared loan and compliance officers and other leadership staff. Students interested in the banking area have a curriculum that focuses on commercial banking with additional coursework available related to agriculture lending, and there is an internship program in place for students to gain valuable hands-on experience. The dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Robbins Banking Institute was held on August 25, 2017.
