CAREER ACTIVITIES
Jane Miller is a Lecturer in the Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Fort Hays State University (USA), teaching at its international partnership campus at Shenyang Normal University (China). With more than 15 years of experience spanning higher education and industry, she specializes in marketing, strategic management, international business, and business communication. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including Marketing Strategy, Global Marketing, Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Applied Business Studies, Business Law, and Introduction to Business. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning, integrating real-world business practice, case studies, simulations, and project-based learning to prepare students for global careers.
Beyond the classroom, Jane has made significant contributions to international education through student mentoring, curriculum development, faculty service, and cross-cultural engagement. She has served on the Dean Search Committee at Fort Hays State University, co-chaired the Faculty Diversity Support Group Outreach Committee, and served on the Faculty Senate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She co-founded the English Corner initiative in China to strengthen students' English communication skills and has actively supported international student recruitment, faculty recruitment, student advising, recommendation writing, and institutional collaboration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she continued teaching synchronously online and later returned to China to resume face-to-face instruction, ensuring continuity of learning for her students. She is also an active presenter at international conferences and faculty development programs, with research interests centered on cross-cultural sustainability, international education, and student success.
Prior to entering academia, Jane built an accomplished career in corporate marketing, branding, communications, and operations leadership across the healthcare, technology, and education sectors. She held senior leadership positions with organizations including S10 Health, Amelio Childcare, IBS Software, Patni Computers (now Capgemini), Digital GlobalSoft (now HP), and Compaq, leading strategic branding, corporate communications, business operations, and marketing initiatives across international markets. Her industry experience continues to enrich her teaching by connecting academic concepts with contemporary business practice. Jane is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Management and a PhD in Education at the University of Malta while maintaining an active commitment to teaching excellence, professional development, and advancing international higher education.
