FHSU to honor Jana Mackey with Day of Service

HAYS,Kan. -- The late Jana Mackey was an inspirational woman's rights advocate who lobbied for the National Organization for Women; was a member of ProKanDo, a pro-choice political action committee inKansas; and volunteered to aid victims of sexual and domestic violence. Herlegacy still influences those who fight for women's rights today.
From11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, the Women's Leadership Project and Tigers In Service will sponsor a day of service in Mackey's honor at Chuck'sPlace in Wiest Hall on the Fort Hays State University campus.
Volunteers at this event will package supplies for the Hays Area Community Assistance Center, distribute community flyers about events on and off campus, send cardsto children in Honduras, and participate in an email and writing campaign to different representatives to resign and promote the Violence Against Women Act.Volunteers will also be able to write to the two students, Ziqi"Nina" Zhuang, a graduate student from Mengzi Yunnan, China, and Jian"Dirk" Ma, a senior from Dun Hua City, China, who were involved in acar wreck over the winter break that left Ma paralyzed.
