Griffin elected to board of national advising, career exploration association

Dr. Patricia Griffin, director of the Academic Advising and Career Exploration at Fort Hays State University and an assistant professor of communication studies, has been elected to one of nine positions on the board of directors for the National Academic Advising Association: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

She will serve a three-year term, 2015-2018, which will begin in October. The board provides direction for NACADA by maintaining a current strategic plan and assuring that finances are adequate to sustain all initiatives.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed a full term as a regional, commission or administrative committee chair. Griffin has served two non-consecutive terms as the Region 7 chair (2003-2005, 2011-2013).

NACADA is a non-profit organization founded in 1979 to promote high-quality academic advising. It has more than 12,000 members globally.

Griffin has been an active member of NACADA since 1997. She has presented at numerous regional and annual conferences and presented on a webinar. She has also served as a faculty member for the Summer Institute, as a member of the Finance Committee, in the Consultants Bureau, as a conference chair, as a conference committee member, as a proposal reviewer, as a content reviewer for two book publications and as a writer for a monograph.
