Senators participate in faculty orientation

Twenty senators participated in an inaugural Faculty Senate orientation on Aug. 20. The event was organized to acquaint the senators with the function and responsibilities of the Senate.

Dr. Lori Cook-Benjamin, president of the Faculty Senate, highlighted information on the Kansas Board of Regents' Foresight 2020, on the senate's bylaws and on its standing rules. Executive committee members Dr. Fred Britten, professor of communication sciences and disorders; Dr. Darrell Hamlin, assistant professor of justice studies; Dr. David Goodlett, associate professor of history; Dr. Carl Miller, assistant professor of philosophy; and Angela Walters, associate professor of informatics; shared the purposes and what to expect from the standing committees.

A Robert's Rules of Order training was held on Aug. 26.
