HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s upcoming Science Café is set for Monday, Oct. 27.
This month’s presentation, “The Biochemistry behind Lust, Attraction, and Companionship,” is sponsored by FHSU’s Science and Mathematics Education Institute (SMEI) and will begin at 7 p.m. at The Venue in Thirsty’s Brew Pub & Grill, 2704 Vine.
Dr. James R. Balthazor, FHSU Professor of Chemistry and K-INBRE Campus Coordinator, will discuss the question, “What actually drives love?”
Scientists from anthropology to neuroscience have been chasing that very question for decades. It turns out, the science of love is at once surprisingly simple and incredibly complex. Dr. Balthazor’s presentation will provide a quick tour through some of the key chemicals that fuel love.
Please note, while drinks will be available for purchase, NO FOOD WILL BE SERVED during Science Café.
Science Café presentations are free and open to the public. Questions can be directed to Cari Rohleder at cbrohleder@fhsu.edu or 785-628-4743 or by visiting:
