HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s upcoming Science Café is set for Monday, March 9.
This month’s presentation, “Eco Acoustics: Harmonizing Humans and Nature,” is sponsored by FHSU’s Science and Mathematics Education Institute (SMEI) and will begin at 7 p.m. at The Venue in Thirsty’s Brew Pub & Grill, 2704 Vine.
Dr. Luke Helker, Assistant Professor and Percussion Assistant Director of Bands at Fort Hays State University, will present a lecture-recital of works for percussion and electronics that engage with sonification and acoustic ecology to demonstrate different relationships between humans and the natural world. With this recital, audiences will be exposed to sounds unheard of or unimaginable, with the hope that the natural world will be amplified like never before.
Please note, while drinks will be available for purchase, NO FOOD WILL BE SERVED during Science Café.
Science Café presentations are free and open to the public. Questions can be directed to Cari Rohleder at cbrohleder@fhsu.edu or 785-628-4743 or by visiting:
