Governor Proclaims March 18 as National SBDC Day in Kansas

HAYS, Kan. — The Kansas Small Business Development Center (Kansas SBDC) is proud to announce that the Governor of Kansas has officially proclaimed March 18, 2026, as National Small Business Development Center Day in Kansas, recognizing the vital role the Kansas SBDC plays in supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the state’s economy.
National SBDC Day is a nationwide celebration highlighting the impact of America’s Small Business Development Centers and the millions of small businesses they serve each year. In Kansas, the SBDC provides no-cost, confidential advising, training, and resources to entrepreneurs and small businesses in all 105 counties through a statewide network of regional centers.
The proclamation also recognizes the measurable impact Kansas SBDC clients are having on communities across the state. In Fiscal Year 2025, Kansas SBDC clients:
- Started 205 new businesses
- Created 1,067 jobs
- Retained 5,657 jobs
- Generated more than $411.8 million in gross revenues
- Secured over $53.8 million in capital infusion through loans, equity, and grants
In addition, the Kansas SBDC provided advising and training services to 2,583 entrepreneurs and small business owners, equipping them with the tools needed to start, grow, and sustain successful businesses across Kansas.
“Small businesses are the backbone of Kansas communities,” said Dan Lara, State Director of the Kansas SBDC. “This proclamation highlights the incredible work being done by entrepreneurs across our state and recognizes the impact the Kansas SBDC has in helping them launch new businesses, create jobs, and strengthen local economies.”
Kansas SBDC services are delivered through partnerships with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of Kansas, host universities, and local economic development partners, ensuring entrepreneurs in both rural and urban communities have access to expert business advising and training.
As part of the National SBDC Day celebration, the Kansas SBDC encourages Kansans to recognize the contributions of small businesses and the entrepreneurs who help drive economic growth and innovation across the state.
