HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State University Foundation is pleased to welcome Alex Johnson to its staff as a Director of Development.
In this role, Alex will be responsible for raising private support to benefit FHSU, specifically for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. His responsibilities include major gift qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
“What a privilege it is to return home to help shape the future of Fort Hays State University,” Alex said. “The opportunities I have today are rooted in the experiences and relationships I made at Fort Hays State, and I’m looking forward to working with the Foundation team to facilitate impactful partnerships on behalf of our students and the FHSU community.”
Alex is a third-generation Hays native and graduate of Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and will earn a certificate in Business Law this May. While attending FHSU, he was involved in many campus organizations, and he interned for the Foundation and Alumni Office during the 2024-2025 academic year.
During his final year at FHSU, Alex’s interest in politics led him to serve as Press Secretary to Representative Derek Schmidt in Washington, D.C. Although grateful for the learning opportunity at the nation’s capital, he is ready to continue the mission of the university’s Foundation.
“I’m excited to apply my passion and work ethic toward students looking to call Fort Hays State home through fostering relationships with those who came before them,” he said.
Established in 1945, the FHSU Foundation is committed to cultivating lasting connections with alumni, friends, corporations, and other organizations that have a passion for Fort Hays State and want to continue its legacy of excellence. As an independent, non-profit organization, the Foundation’s donors have an impact on all facets of university life, and their support continues to translate into success for FHSU students.
