HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s Science Café will conclude its long-running series with a special presentation on Monday, April 27, celebrating the conversations that have helped change the way we understand the world.
The final Science Café, “150 Cafés: Conversations That Changed How We See the World,” will begin at 7 p.m. at The Venue @ Thirsty’s, 2704 Vine Street, Hays. The event is sponsored by FHSU’s Science and Mathematics Education Institute (SMEI) and is free and open to the public.
The presentation will be delivered by Dr. Paul Adams, Dean of the College of Education and Executive Director of the Science and Mathematics Education Institute at Fort Hays State University. Dr. Adams also serves as Professor of Physics and Anschutz Professor of Education and is a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador.
Drawing on years of Science Café programming, Dr. Adams will reflect on 150 Café conversations that sparked curiosity, encouraged dialogue, and helped audiences see science and its role in everyday life from new perspectives. The presentation will highlight the power of informal, community-based science engagement and the lasting impact of bringing science out of the classroom and into public spaces.
Science Café events are designed to foster relaxed, engaging discussions about science, technology, health, and education in a social setting. While beverages will be available for purchase, the presentation itself is intended as a conversation-focused experience.
