Fort Hays State University announces Economics, Finance, and Accounting Students of the Year

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University’s Department of Economics, Finance, and Accounting has announced the recipients of its 2025-2026 Students of the Year awards for accounting, finance, and international business and economics.
Students graduating during the 2025-2026 academic year were eligible for the awards, with faculty members from each discipline selecting the recipients. Students were notified of their awards on April 16, and individual award presentations were held within the department on May 4, with the exception of the online student receiving the International Business and Economics Student of the Year Award.
The 2025-2026 Accounting Student of the Year Award recipient is Kintzli Wagner of Kansas City, Missouri. Wagner graduated from Saint Pius X High School and will earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Public Accounting with a minor in Finance at Friday’s commencement ceremony. Following graduation, she plans to pursue her CPA license and begin a full-time position as an audit associate with Ernst & Young in Kansas City.
Sarah Jones of Wamego received the 2025-2026 Finance Student of the Year Award. Jones, a graduate of Wamego High School, will earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with a concentration in Financial Planning on Friday. After graduation, she plans to marry her fiancé and relocate to Ellsworth to begin her career.
The 2025-2026 International Business and Economics Student of the Year Award recipient is Kaitlin Amidon of Emporia. Amidon will graduate on Friday with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business and Economics. She previously earned an associate degree from Cloud County Community College.
