Refine and Enhance Your Web Content
The WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor is your central workspace for building and refining web page content. This module provides the essential skills to effectively format text, add links, incorporate media, and organize data.
In this module, you will learn to:
1. Format Text for Clarity and Impact
Create a clear information hierarchy using proper heading structures. Employ lists to break down complex information into scannable points and apply text styles to guide the reader's eye. Consistent formatting not only improves readability and navigation but is also a cornerstone of web accessibility, ensuring your content is usable by everyone.
2. Add Links to Connect and Guide
Turn static text into a pathway for your users. Learn how to create clear, descriptive hyperlinks that connect your content to other pages, documents, or external sites. We'll cover best practices for link text and ensuring links open seamlessly, keeping users engaged and informed.
- Internal links: Connect to pages and files within the FHSU website
- External links: Direct users to valuable outside resources
- Email and phone links: Enable one-click contact for immediate connection
- Page anchors: Guide users to specific sections within a long page
3. Incorporate Engaging Media
Bring your pages to life by seamlessly integrating images and videos. This section will teach you how to insert and format visuals, embed content from platforms like YouTube and Vimeo, and use media to create a richer, more engaging user experience.
4. Organize Data with Tables
Present data cleanly using tables. You will learn how to insert and format them for improved readability. More importantly, we’ll cover best practices for knowing when a table is the right tool and how to ensure your data tables remain accessible to all users, including those using screen readers.
