Statement for COVID-19
During this period of uncertainty, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Financial Assistance Office is keenly aware that the move to online classes and closure of the main campus is creating some concern for Fort Hays State University students with regard to their financial aid. Our first priority is to make sure that our students are provided with the services they need to continue to be successful. We would like to assure you that while we may not be in our offices, our staff will continue to maintain regular office hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Additionally, we will continue to process aid for 2019-20 and 2020-21, and send communications regarding your financial aid via email or phone calls. We will strive to make this transition as seamless as possible to maintain the level of support and care you are accustomed to receiving.
If you need to contact our office, our first suggestion is to email us at finaid@fhsu.edu. We will be monitoring and responding to our emails Monday through Friday during regular business hours. If you feel the need to call us, please call (785) 628-4408. You will be directed to our voicemail and we ask that you leave a message. Someone from our office will get back to you as quickly as possible. We understand that this will require some wait time. We also anticipate that there may be some slow down to our processing as we adjust to this new way of conducting business. We will work as quickly as we can, and thank you for your patience and understanding. As always, we hope that any decisions you make regarding continuation or withdrawal from classes, especially during this time, will be made with careful thought and some counseling from our office so we are sure you are aware of the implications to your financial aid awards.
The Financial Assistance Office will continue to monitor the situation with COVID-19 and any regulations that are being released by the Department of Education. We will adjust as necessary to make sure your financial aid is being handled correctly as these new regulations are implemented. We look forward to the resolution of this situation and we hope for a quick return to campus for everyone impacted by this event.
