NOTICE:
- Participation is limited to 15 funded applicants; apply early to be considered for a reserved spot!
- Accepted funded applicants will have no participation fees other than any applicable tuition fees.
- All correspondence to applicants will be sent via the school email provided.
The Kansas Slingshot Challenge Institute will help prepare educators and support staff successfully integrate the Slingshot competition in the classroom. The institute will provide:
- Content related to Kansas geography and environmental issues
- Teaching approaches in addressing environmental issues
- Methods to address state standards through student participation in the competition
- Best practices regarding the planning and development of videos that convey information and share ideas effectively
We encourage teachers in areas with traditionally underserved student populations to apply.
Accepted grant funded participants will receive:
Room and board, stipend, and Certificate of completion.
Optional additional benefit: 1-3 undergraduate credit hours available (tuition paid for by participant) via FHSU course GSCI 657 Advanced Topics in Geosciences: Geographic Summer Institute
Participants wishing to receive academic credit for participation must first apply to FHSU as a non-degree-seeking student before registering for the course.

- For returning FHSU students you will need to apply for re-entry as a non-degree seeking student https://www.fhsu.edu/admissions/re-entrystudents/
- Current FHSU students, check with your advisor to ensure you have a summer course elective on your plan, and you have permission to enroll in GSCI 657.

*Approved participants will be contacted via provided school email with full institute registration and lodging information.
