HAYS, Kan. -- "Centering 2," a work by Amy Schmierbach, professor of art and design at Fort Hays State University, was recently selected as a curator favorite in "We All Draw" at the Thinking Through Drawing: International Drawing and Cognitive Research and Education conference in London.
The drawing is the first in a series focusing on mindful meditation. Schmierbach will conduct an undergraduate research project titled "The Mindful Drawing Project" this spring with Dr. Gene Rice, chair of the Department of Philosophy at FHSU. The project was awarded an undergraduate research grant from the Office of Sponsored Projects at FHSU. Schmierbach has taught drawing and inter-media at FHSU for 16 years.
