11/17/23
HAYS, Kan. – A long-time campus tradition is coming up to celebrate the holiday season at Fort Hays State University. President Mason will kick this event off, followed by multiple speakers sharing about Christmas from their culture. To wrap up the welcome, there will be a candlelight ceremony.
The holiday tree-lighting ceremony will be in front of Sheridan Hall. The event is open to the public and will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28.
The university’s Dickens Carolers will perform. A variety of activities will follow the tree lighting, including a cookie decorating contest, carriage rides, kid’s train rides, and photos with Santa Claus. The first 200 people will have the opportunity to receive a holiday-themed FHSU long-sleeved T-shirt and coffee/ hot chocolate from Breathe Coffee.
The event is sponsored by several FHSU offices: the Office of Student Engagement, the Office of the President, and International Student Services.
