Department of Nursing

The Fort Hays State University Department of Nursing has courses and programs designed to meet your diverse learning and career needs in a student-centered learning environment. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs, post-graduate certificate programs, and a doctoral degree program.

Our excellent programs are approved by the state of Kansas. The Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), at Fort Hays State University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750,  Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at Fort Hays State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.  

Undergraduate Nursing Programs

Traditional On Campus BSN Program

Online RN to BSN Program

  • Students may reside in any
    State (except TN, UT, WY, AL, WA)

Online Graduate Nursing Programs

Online Masters in Nursing Education 

        Students may reside in any State (except TN, UT, WY, AL, WA) and have a current RN license in the state of their clinical rotations

Online Masters in Nursing Administration 

        Students may reside in any State (except TN, UT, WY, AL, WA) and have a current RN license in the state of their clinical rotations

Online BSN to Doctor of Nursing Practice

  • Requires a student to graduate from an accredited
    school with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Requires a student to reside in the State of Kansas
    and have a current Kansas RN license
  • Requires minimal on-campus days each year

Online APRN to Doctor of Nursing Practice

  • Requires a student to graduate from an accredited school with a Master's of Science in Nursing Degree in an Advanced Practice role as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Midwife, or Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Students may reside in any State (except TN, UT, WY, AL, WA) and have a current RN license from that state.  Must also hold a current APRN license
  • Requires 2 or fewer on campus days each year

The RN to BSN program, MSN programs, and DNP program are online. These programs do not meet the requirements for International students who require on-campus courses.
