Affordable Care Act
Parents, the Health & Wellness Services at Fort Hays State University is preparing for the implementation of Affordable Care Act
As many provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act come into effect on January 1, 2014, Fort Hays State University is preparing for potential changes to health coverage. In 2014 and beyond, students will be provided with three primary ways to obtain their health insurance: through family, the University or the new exchanges that the law calls on states to establish. To ensure compliance with the new Affordable Care Act, Fort Hays State University is encouraging all students who do not have health coverage to obtain health insurance or they will face federal penalties.
Fort Hays State University offers a health insurance policy for eligible students. This plan, selected for the Kansas regents schools by the State of Kansas, is offered through Student Resources and is underwritten by UnitedHealthCare Student Resources. For information about the policy, please visit www.uhcsr.com
Affordable Care Act/ Health Insurance Marketplace 101
Health Insurance Marketplace allows you choose an insurance health plan that is right for you. It gives you different types of health plans to meet a variety of needs and budget. Young Invincibles invites you to help spread the word about the new Health Insurance Marketplaces that will open on October 1. As a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), college students -- like other Americans -- will have access to a new way to explore health care coverage options, compare costs and benefits, find out if they are eligible for Medicaid or new tax credits, and purchase affordable coverage through these marketplaces. The digital toolkit includes sample Facebook updates, Twitter messages, and infographics to help spread the word.
