Hands-On Learning in Social Work
As a social work student at FHSU, you'll benefit from substantive hands-on experience while developing professional skills you need for your future career. With this type of experiential learning, you get to apply classroom learning in real world, hands-on situations.
Conduct Your Social Work Field Practicum. A key component of the social work program is the supervised practicum field experience, in which you will work with real clients in real situations at a variety of locations throughout Kansas.
Find a Social Work Internship. We'll help you find an internship with a local agency (or one in your home community) to see your degree in action. Your faculty advisor will work with you to find an internship that meets your personal and career goals.
Active Learning. Service learning, field trips, internships, and practicum experiences take you out of the classroom to see theory in action.
Please contact the Department of Social Work to learn more about how these hands-on opportunities help you fully experience your degree program and pave the way for success.
