Amanda Buday, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Sociology and Coordinator of the Women's and Gender Studies Certificate program
Dr. Buday received her M.A. in Sociology in 2012 and her Ph.D. in Sociology in 2016 from Southern Illinois University. She currently teaches sociology of families, women's and gender studies, and contemporary social movements. Her research interests include rural communities and natural resource uses, and the politics of land and energy development. She is a member of the American Sociological Association and the Rural Sociological Society, and is faculty co-advisor to the FHSU Young Democrats and the Sociology Club at FHSU. Amanda's research on political conflict surrounding unconventional oil and gas extraction appears in Social Currents and Sociological Perspectives.
