Computer Provisioning Procedure
Review the information below for details about FHSU's employee computer replacement and maintenance procedure.
FHSU follows a standard lifecycle to keep computers reliable and secure:
- Laptop: 4 years
- Desktop: 5 years
These are target replacement windows, not guaranteed timelines. Replacements are prioritized based on available funding, device age, performance, and operational need.
If more devices are eligible than funding allows, replacements are distributed over multiple fiscal years. In the meantime, upgrades such as memory or storage may be used to extend a device’s usable life. Devices that require replacement prior to their scheduled lifecycle are typically fulfilled using refurbished or repurposed equipment.
TigerTech will contact employees when their device is due for replacement and will coordinate the process with consideration for schedules, needs, and preferences.
TigerTech covers the cost of standard computer setups, unless specific exceptions have been made.
