Language and Literacy Tutoring
About Tutoring
The FHSU Language and Literacy Institute provides individualized or small group instruction to help learners improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills. We work with students of all ages, from young children struggling with early literacy to adults looking to enhance their reading and writing abilities. Tutors use a variety of strategies tailored to each learner’s needs, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary building, grammar, reading fluency, comprehension, and speaking and listening skills. Additionally, we also offer support for English learners (ELs), helping them build language proficiency. Overall, literacy tutoring centers aim to boost students’ confidence and academic success by fostering stronger literacy skills in a supportive, personalized environment.
