FHSU offers first-time, full-time, on-campus freshman students the opportunity to receive an automatic and renewable scholarship based on a combination of their ACT/SAT score and GPA. Students may be eligible to receive up to $15,000 in scholarship funds automatically. Yes, we superscore! The actual scholarship award will be based upon your verified official academic credentials. These scholarships are renewable for three additional years, provided normal scholarship eligibility criteria are met. View a PDF of the Scholarship Graph.

This grant exists to provide students who have demonstrated leadership, and who otherwise might not have access to quality education, an opportunity to reach their fullest academic and leadership potential. Each recipient will be carefully selected by a committee and expected to fulfill each requirement upon acceptance for the AAOG.

Receive up to $15,000 per Year!
FHSU Miss Kansas Scholarships for On-campus Student
- Winner: Full-ride (tuition and fees) scholarship for four years, a value of up to $15,000 per year!
- Runners-up: $2,000 per year ($1,000 awarded in Fall, $1,000 awarded in spring)
- All other participants: $1,000 per year ($500 awarded in Fall, $500 awarded in spring)
Requirements
- Must be an on-campus student.
- Attend full-time every semester.
- Renewable for a total of four years with a 3.0 cumulative GPA per year.
- Fall/Spring semester only. Not for use during summer sessions or intercession.
- Not stackable with other FHSU scholarships.
- Undergraduate courses only. Not eligible for graduate courses.
FHSU Miss Kansas Scholarships for Online Student
- $100 scholarship per undergraduate credit hour**

*Awards are stackable with other FHSU scholarships.
** The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years with a 3.0 cumulative GPA per year. The scholarship will only be offered within a four-year time frame following the competition. Award is stackable with other FHSU scholarships.

Schmidt Foundation Scholars
The Schmidt Foundation Scholars scholarship is made possible through the generous gifts of the Schmidt Foundation. This amount includes 30 hours of tuition and fees for fall and spring courses, books, and room and board. This scholarship aims to support FHSU students, with preference given to students from Kansas and first-generation college students. Recipients have the opportunity to renew their scholarship for up to three additional years if eligibility requirements continue to be met. Each year, five future FHSU students from the incoming freshman class will have the opportunity to receive this prestigious scholarship and join the respected community of Schmidt Foundation Scholars.
The application for freshmen starting in the fall will be open from September 5 to midnight on February 15. Applications will be reviewed by a joint committee from the Schmidt Foundation and FHSU. When finalists are selected, they will be invited to participate in a Zoom interview with the scholarship committee, and award announcements will be made shortly after that.
Eligibility
Recipients must:
- Be admitted to FHSU.
- Be a full-time, on-campus, undergraduate student.
- Reside in double room occupancy in the Residence Hall all four years.
- Attend a once-per-semester dinner with the Schmidt Foundation and FHSU leadership, which will provide networking and mentoring opportunities for the recipient.
- Participate in a mentorship program.
To renew their scholarship, Schmidt Foundation Scholars must:
- Maintain a 3.25 GPA per semester for automatic renewal.
- Maintain full-time, on-campus student status.
- Continue participation in a mentorship program.
Preference will be given to:
- Kansas residents.
- First-generation college students. A first-generation student comes from a family where neither parent has earned a two or four-year degree.
- Students from Kansas counties where Eagle Radio has locations.
- Students who plan to major in Healthcare, Education, Business/Entrepreneurship, Arts, and Communication Programs.

Teammates Mentoring Scholarship Program
Fort Hays State University is proud to partner with Teammates, offering a four year, renewable scholarship to eligible Teammates students.
The mission of the TeamMates Mentoring Program is to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. TeamMates is a school-based program focused on building positive relationships between students and safe-caring adults. Students attending Fort Hays State University with a TeamMates scholarship are automatically placed in the TeamMates+ program. Matches in TeamMates+ meet once a month to create a friendship and build valuable soft life skills.
Scholarship: Fort Hays State University TeamMates Scholarship
Award amount: Award amounts vary based on need and range from $4,000 to $14,000 over four years
Number of scholarships awarded: Unlimited, non-competitive, stackable with other university scholarships
Criteria:
- Must have been in TeamMates for a minimum of 3 years
- Must complete and submit an application for admission to Fort Hays State
- Must attend Fort Hays State University beginning in the fall as a full-time on-campus student taking at least 12 credit hours
- Must maintain a 3.3 GPA to renew the scholarship until graduation
