Schmidt Foundation Scholars
The Schmidt Foundation Scholars scholarship is a $14,900 award made possible through the generous gifts of the Schmidt Foundation. This amount includes 30 hours of tuition and fees for fall and spring courses, books, room and board. The purpose of this scholarship is to support FHSU students, with preference given to students from Kansas and first-generation college students. Recipients have the opportunity to renew their scholarship for up to three additional years, if eligibility requirements continue to be met. Each year, five future FHSU students from the incoming freshman class will have the opportunity to receive this prestigious scholarship and join the respected community of Schmidt Foundation Scholars.
The application deadline for students starting in the fall of 2022 has passed. The application for freshman starting in the fall of 2023 will be open from midnight on September 5, 2022 to midnight on February 15, 2023. Applications will be reviewed by a joint committee from the Schmidt Foundation and FHSU. When finalists are selected, they will be invited to participate in a Zoom interview with the scholarship committee, and award announcements will be made shortly thereafter.
