I’ve never attended a virtual fair and prefer meeting candidates face to face. How will this fair meet my needs?
This virtual fair is being offered in place of the on-campus fair. The fair provides all candidates the opportunity to network with employers online, while not missing out on the face-to-face interaction. Employers may converse with candidates in a group chat session, or visit face-to-face through video. Employers may use the video technology to interview candidates as well!
What are the different ways I may connect with candidates through the virtual environment?
-Real-time engagement in a group or one-on-one setting via chat or video.
-Conduct video interviews.
-Conduct group video information sessions for up to 50 students at a time.
-Access to search resumes of registered candidates.
-Your own profile page showcasing your organization. Upload photos, videos, benefits, job opportunities, and more! You have control to post as much as you'd like.
The fair runs from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST. Do I have to be present that entire time frame?
Though the virtual fair runs from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., you have the option to designate specific times you will be available to meet candidates online. You also have the option to enlist multiple representatives to operate your booth during designated time frames.
What technology do I need to participate in this fair? Is there anything I will need to download?
All you need to do is login to Handshake the day of the fair using Google Chrome or Firefox. You will need a webcam or built-in camera to take advantage of all the multi-media options, such as video interviews.
Are there any training opportunities prior to the virtual fair?
We believe you will find the Handshake virtual fair platform very user-friendly. We do recommend watching Handshake's Virtual Career Fair Training for Employers. It would also be helpful for you to review The Virtual Career Fair on Handshake guide.
Who do I contact if I have questions or technical problems during the fair?
Career Services staff will be available during the fair to provide assistance. Call 785-628-4260 or email careers@fhsu.edu.
What can I do before the fair to engage students?
In order to best engage students prior to the fair, begin posting job and internship opportunities through Handshake and reach out to students through Handshake messaging and campus networks. Contact Career Services if you are interested in hosting an online or in-person information session prior to the fair.
